ISSUE 002 / A PROPOSED EVALUATION METHOD
Qwen-Image-2.1 test the workflow check the license
For a small product team, the decision is not whether a demo image looks good. It is whether a repeatable workflow produces assets a reviewer can use, at an acceptable cost and under suitable terms.
The official repository ↗ dates the release to 20 September 2026. Its maintainers describe text-to-image and image editing in one pipeline, transparent RGBA output, and up to ten reference images. They provide Diffusers and ComfyUI integration examples. These are maintainer descriptions, not results reproduced by Fujie.
Run a bounded evaluation
Choose one asset category, such as a product cutout. Start with synthetic or company-owned input images and record their rights. Write five prompts and expected outcomes before running the model. Include a hard case such as small text, an unusual aspect ratio, or similar-looking products.
Record the checkpoint, inference stack, settings, seed, hardware, runtime, and any prompt rewriting. Save each output with its input and reviewer decision. Have a human mark usable, needs editing, or reject. Count reruns and review minutes. One attractive output does not establish repeatability or savings.
Check the commercial use path separately
The published Qwen Research License ↗ grants rights to the provided materials for non-commercial purposes and says commercial use requires a separate license. Confirm the rights needed for your proposed workflow before customer-facing or paid deployment. This summarizes the posted terms; it is not legal advice or a claim that Fujie has a commercial license.
Fujie has not run this model, measured its performance, obtained a commercial license, or conducted a customer trial for this note.
What would change the decision
A small repeatable batch, the share accepted without manual repair, the time spent on failures, and a confirmed rights path would support an adoption decision. Until then, treat Qwen-Image-2.1 as an evaluation candidate, not a production asset pipeline.
